At this talk, Scott will focus on how to plan your winter, spring, and summer training so that you can be at your best for your summer event of choice. Come prepared by having the date of your "A" event, a paper calendar of sorts and something to write with. This event will be held at Chamber of Commerce Board Room, 175 George St. N. on Thursday December 10th 6:30pm-8:00pm.
PADDLING - POOL SESSIONSKawartha White Water Paddlers, in association with Wild Rock Outfitters, will be organizing winter pool sessions at the Trent University Pool. The Kayak Pool Clinics start as early as January 2nd. This is a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE registration system (participants are only registered upon payment). NORDIC SKIINGGlide And Grip Wax Clinics
The Glide Wax Clinic is scheduled for January 12th at 6:00pm. The Grip Wax Clinic is on January 19th at 6:00pm. Both are at Wild Rock Outfitters. If you have any of the following questions then these clinics are intended for you.

Is there a different wax for the different temperatures?
How often should I wax my skis?
What if I don't have a waxing iron?
This clinic is open to anyone who wants to know more about the process of waxing skate skis. Bring your skis and we will help you wax them.
Learn To Ski (Skate And Classic)Nordic Ski Clinics for classic and skate techniques will be offered at Kawartha Nordic Ski Club on January 17th, 24th and 31st. Classic Ski Techniques clinics are scheduled for 10:30am and the Skate Ski Clinics are scheduled for 1:30pm; both clinics will run for 1.5 hours.
Please note that the Classic and Skate Ski Clinics for January 31st are intended for the intermediate to advanced skier. The costs of these clinics are a $25.00 donation to Kawartha Nordic due at the time of signing up.
SNOWSHOE MONTH: HIKES AND DEMO "To snowshoe in the most beautiful winter surroundings gives the body and soul tremendous well-being. The simplicity of practicing this sport makes it the easiest of all winter sports, because if you can walk, you can snowshoe." (GV Snowshoes).
There will be a snowshoe demonstration hike scheduled for January 16th at the Trent University Bird Sanctuary on University Road, Peterborough Ontario. This demonstration day is intended for any person(s) interested in the sport of snowshoeing or having problems deciding which snowshoe best suit their outdoor pursuits. There is no cost to register for this event, which can be completed at Wild Rock Outfitters during regular store hours.
Wild Rock has also declared February to be Snowshoe Month, where we will be hosting a weekly series of hikes every Saturday. Keep an eye on the newsletter for dates and details.
