 Wild Rock Outfitters has also declared February to be Snowshoe Month. We will be hosting a weekly series of hikes every Saturday. We will start off by having a demo day at the Kawartha Nordic Ski Club. Come on out and try a pair of Snowshoes on February 6th, 2010 |

SNOWSHOE DEMO
Come join us for a demo day at the Kawartha Nordic Ski Club. Try a
pair of snowshoes on February 6th, 2010. No sign up list, just turn
up. Participant will have to pay day use fee unless they have a
membership. Starts at 11 am.
SNOWSHOE HIKES
February 13th, 2010 Warsaw Caves Conservation Area (Guided by
Jon and Lisa)
February 20th, 2010 Fleetwood creek Conservation Area (Guided by
Jon and Lisa)
February 27th, 2010 Emily Tract Loops 1 & 2 (Guided by Jon and
Lisa)
Check start times when you sign up at the store. Cost is
$10/person/hike or $20 with rentals.
SKATE SKI DEMO AT KAWARTHA NORDIC SKI CLUB
Come on out to the Kawartha Nordic Ski Club and try out some of
our skate skis on Sat February 6th. We will provide boots, poles, and skis. There will be a brief10 minute lesson provided which will be held only at 11:00, 12:00, 1, and 2 pm. Meet at the Wild Rock Tent near the WOODfine Chalet. There is no sign up for this event. Just turn up.Check out a video on Kawartha Nordic...

Kawartha Nordic Ski Club 3rd Annual Enduro

Come and check out the 3rd Annual edition of the
Kawartha Nordic Ski Club Enduro. This event is scheduled
for Sunday February 14th, 2010. The races will
commence at 11 am. The race categories are as follows:
Classic or Skate, 6km, 12km and 24km. Racers can
compete in solo for the 6km, 12km and 24km, a 2 person
team for the 12km and 24km or a four person team for the
24km.
$15/person for Kawartha Nordic Ski members
$30/person for persons who are not members of the
Kawartha Nordic Ski Club
Race day registration and check in will be on the 2nd floor
of the WOODfine Chalet:
$25/person for Kawartha Nordic Ski members
$40/person for persons who are not members of the
Kawartha Nordic Ski Club.

YMCA Half Marathon

Sunday, February 28th.
If you are interested in giving a child in need the
opportunity to participate in YMCA programs, pick up a
pledge form and make a difference in the life of a child!
100% of pledges that are raised go directly to help
children and families participate in YMCA programs such
as YMCA summer camp, swimming lessons and leadership
development. The YMCA works to keep youth active in
character building programs that accentuate self-confidence and provide opportunities for personal
growth. Individuals who collect pledges will be entered to
win fabulous prizes! Prizes include YMCA memberships,
movie/restaurant gift certificates, Running Room packages
and much more!

| Peterborough Cycling Club Kickoff |

The Peterborough Cycling Club is having its annual
membership sign-up event at Wildrock on Thursday,
February 25th from 6 PM until 8 PM, so drop by and see
what Wildrock and the PCC have that is new for 2010. The PCC offers a no-drop ride, a women's only recreational ride,
two levels of week-night group rides, a weekly time trial,
mountain biking and youth ride options.
You can learn more about the PCC, talk to club members,
get more details about the rides we offer all while having a
beverage. For returning members, drop by and tell some
stories about how you weren't working out over the winter.
There will also be some door prizes. |

Hi folks,
I thought most readers have probably had enough rant from
me for a while. This month I am bringing you some interesting and sometimes humorous reading and viewing. A quick list of my favorites in no particular order.
1. A great Canadian based road cycling site Pez Cycling
2. The long-course/IM Triathlon forum. You can waste tons of time and even learn a bunch. Slowtwitch
3. Source of some my humour; Strong Bad
4. Best read in the last month for theists and non-theists alike. Titles on George St. may stock it. For a Review Eternal Life or here to see the cover

6. Local multi-sport scene Runners Life

9. My hero from my previous life Valentino Rossi
On a side note, Kieran and I spent a week in Utah powder
falling in love with tele-skiing again. The next few months
are about getting fit on the bike and ready for the masters
racing season this summer. The Peterborough Cycling Club
looks to have a good bunch ready for this season.
