As someone who has relied on my Salomon Spikecross 3’s since 2014, logging over 6,000 km across nine winters, I can confidently say these shoes are built to last and perform. Wild Rock’s current model, the Salomon Spikecross 6 GTX, continues this legacy of excellence with enhanced features.

The Spikecross 6 GTX offers a GORE-TEX waterproof membrane, ensuring your feet stay warm and dry even in the harshest winter conditions. The standout feature is its 12 carbide-tipped spikes, providing incredible grip on black ice and loose snow, making every stride feel secure regardless of the terrain. These spikes are incredibly durable; my older model’s tips are still going strong after almost a decade. The Contagrip outsole ensures versatility, excelling on icy trails while handling bare asphalt with ease—though they do emit a light clicking sound on hard surfaces.

For me, the true test of these shoes has been on my favorite local routes in Peterborough. The trails in Jackson’s Park offer a mix of terrain, with snow-packed paths and icy sections, where the Spikecross excels in keeping me steady. I also love running the Rail Trail and the Moraine Trails from Parkhill to Trent, both of which present a mix of hard-packed snow and occasional slush.
