Climate Strike in Peterborough and Wild Rock

Climate Strike in Peterborough and Wild Rock | Wild Rock Outfitters

Wild Rock is acting local on Friday September 27th to support the global #climatestrike. We will donate 5% of all sales this day to Peterborough GreenUP which will in turn use the funds for GreenUP’s Sustainable Urban Neighbourhoods (SUN) program. This program works with local residents, the City of Peterborough, and other community partners to co-design Neighbourhood Action Plans that build local resilience to climate change. SUN also works with residents and partners to complete a wide range of on-the-ground projects that increase biodiversity, improve watershed health, support food security, and expand our urban forest.

Through the SUN project, GreenUP is taking action on climate change, and helping neighbourhoods to adapt to future impacts.

In addition we will be operating with a skeleton staff at NOON so our staff can join the millions of people across the globe expected to participate in Friday’s global strike. A significant number of businesses and brands are cheering them on, including our own Patagonia. The protest, which is planned in conjunction with the United Nations’ Climate Action Summit on September 23, is an urgent demand for political action on climate change. It’s a movement originally led by young people, most notably 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg, but adults — and now some businesses — are also joining the masses.
