Layering Like A Pro

Layering Like A Pro

You know that saying about "no bad weather, just bad clothing"? The right foundation is key to staying warm and dry on your winter adventures. Layering for winter is an art form - but luckily it’s easy to learn.

Base layers

The base layer is intended to "wick" sweat off of your skin move it toward the surface of the fabric where it can evaporate.

Capilene® is Patagonia's most versatile baselayers. It is a classic, all-around polyester baselayer made with 100% recycled content. Hollow-core yarns and a diamond-grid back trap warm air, wick moisture and dry fast. HeiQ® Fresh durable odour control keeps things fresh. Fair Trade Certified™ sewn.

Mid layer

The final piece. The outer wear is the final option when it comes to completing your winter layering setup. There are two sides to the coin when it comes to this part. On one side you have your hard shell. These are great for blocking out wind and keeping the precipitation at bay. These will keep you warm and dry as long as you manage your sweat. On the other side you have down or synthetic insulation. These are great options for cold and dry days. Think snowshoeing on a cold day. They wont keep you dry, but they are incredibly breathable and often easy to pack away.
