Watching your child discover the joy of gliding on snow is a magical experience. Getting them on the right equipment is the first step to a lifetime of fun on the trails! For kids, the right ski length is crucial for building confidence and skill. Here’s a simple guide to help you choose.
For Toddlers & Younger Kids (Focus on Ease of Use)
For our youngest skiers, simplicity and stability are key. The goal is to make their first steps on snow as easy and enjoyable as possible. For this age group, we recommend sizing skis by height.
A perfect beginner ski should be anywhere from 0cm to 15cm longer than your child’s total height. A shorter ski in this range (closer to their height) will be easier to turn and maneuver, which is ideal for first-timers. Don't worry about performance at this stage—fun and control are what matter most!
For Older, Active, or Performance-Focused Kids
As kids grow stronger, heavier, or develop a need for speed, the sizing focus shifts. For these young athletes, we recommend choosing skis based on weight.
Weight-based sizing ensures the ski has the right camber and stiffness for optimal kick and glide. A ski chosen by weight will provide better performance, more power transfer, and a smoother ride as they tackle longer trails and develop their technique.
