Women Who Know Their Gear

Women Who Know Their Gear

We've been doing an International Women's Day post for a few years now, and we keep coming back to the same truth: the women on this team are a big part of why Wild Rock feels the way it does.

This year we wanted to do something a little different. Instead of asking our staff about themselves, we asked them to talk about the brands they actually believe in. The brands they recommend because they use them, trust them, and think they deserve more attention. Three picks, three women, three brands that earn their place on our shelves.

But first, a welcome back is in order. Our sportswear buyer Breeze Romain has returned from maternity leave, and we're genuinely thrilled to have her back. Breeze has been shaping what we carry for years, and her eye for thoughtful, purposeful gear is a big part of why so many of these brands are here in the first place. Adventure looks different at every stage of life, and we're so glad she's back in this one.

Wild Rock has been around since 1992, and the women who've been part of it — from Mo and Jan (co-founders Kieran and Scott's remarkable and inspiring moms) to Tori Silvera, who leads the store today — have shaped what this place is. That's not something we say for IWD. It's just true, and today's a good day to say it out loud.

Now, the picks.

SUSTAINABLE BASICS

Boody

Picked by Bridget Moore

Bridget is a fixture on the Wild Rock floor and knows well what our customers actually come back and thank you for. Boody is one of those recommendations.

Made from bamboo, Boody's basics — underwear, bralettes, everyday layers — are genuinely soft in a way that surprises people who haven't tried them. But what makes Bridget reach for this brand isn't just the feel. It's that the whole thing makes sense: bamboo grows fast, uses less water, and produces a fabric that holds up wash after wash.

"It's the kind of thing where once you try it, you wonder why you were wearing anything else."

For anyone building out a base layer wardrobe, or just looking for everyday basics that don't compromise, this is where Bridget starts the conversation.

Indyeva

Picked by Wendy

Wendy's pick is one we're proud to carry for more than one reason. Indyeva is a Canadian women's outdoor brand — designed here, made thoughtfully, and built around the idea that outdoor clothing for women should actually fit and perform for women.

It's a deceptively simple idea that not enough brands get right. Indyeva does. Their pieces are versatile enough for a trail and presentable enough for whatever comes after, and they're built with the kind of material choices and construction that you notice after a few seasons of wear, not just the first time you put them on.

Wendy wears Indyeva herself: for travel, for the trail, and for everything in between. She'll tell you the quality is obvious the moment you handle it, and that it looks good enough to wear well past the trailhead.

Teva

Picked by Brianne Lynch

Teva isn't a trend — it's been the go-to adventure sandal since the mid-80s, and Brianne will tell you there's a reason for that.

They're built for the kind of day that doesn't have a plan: part trail, part town, part wading across something you didn't expect to wade across. And over the past few years, Teva has done real work on the materials side with recycled plastic webbing, lower-impact manufacturing, and an overall durability that means you're not replacing them every season.

"I have a pair of the wedge Tevas and I wear them all day at work. They're easy, they're comfortable, you can dress them up or down. I throw them in a bag when I travel. They're just such a classic."

If you're heading into a spring or summer with any outdoor time in it, Brianne's case for Teva is pretty hard to argue with.

We're lucky to work with people who genuinely care about what they're recommending. That's not a given in retail, but it's always been part of how Wild Rock works. These three are a good example of it.

Happy International Women's Day. To the women who've shaped this store, this community, and the places we play — today's for you.
