Peterborough and the Kawarthas has long been a favourite destination for cyclists of all types… especially road cyclists. The combination of rolling drumlin hills, scenic lake vistas and winding rural roads make for challenging and diverse riding opportunities. They can be used for training just as easily as they can be used for a casual ride with friends and family.

The rural cafes along the way serve as tantalizing motivation to push riders through the tough segments, and there are some great local craft breweries to reward you at the end of a satisfying day. And the best part (if we didn’t have you convinced at cafes and craft beer)? You get off the beaten path!

GRAVEL

INTRODUCTION TO THE CHARMS OF PTBO GRAVEL

This route offers a short but sweet introduction to the fabulous gravel roads in the Peterborough area.

NEVER TOO FAR FROM HOME

We like this route a lot. Most of the roads are exceptionally quiet and much of the route has a far-away feel about it.

RICE LAKE LOOP - THE SMALL ROADS WAY

The Rice Lake Loop is even better when you keep the smallest roads you can find, which is exactly what we have done for this route.

LAKEFIELD - THE SMALL ROADS WAY

Lakefield is the single most popular cycling destination in the region; and for very good reason.

A GRAVEL SAMPLER

This is a nice little route that allows riders to escape the city as quickly as possible.

SOUTHERN GRAVEL AND HOPE MILL

Immediately leaving Peterborough on the Great Trail, this route quickly gets riders out to the quiet farm roads south of the city.

PETERBOROUGH CYCLING DAYCATION #1

A GREAT DAYCATION OR INTRODUCTION TO BIKEPACKING

This is simply a great day out on the bike for riders who like the idea of going a bit farther afield.
